It’s pulled off as a comedic thing, I’m making it sound like a horror or thriller book. It gets to the point where she succumbs, gives up, and accepts what he wants because it’s the only way she’ll survive and be sane. Essentially, he’s always keeping her away from sanity. it gets really manipulative and this is where the controversy appears. You deserve better!” and basically starves her in that process because he keeps rejecting whatever food is cast towards her.

When she comes to his house, hungry, he objects to the food saying, “It’s not good enough for you. When she agrees to the marriage, he suddenly does not want to get married. For example, if she doesn’t want to get married, then he most definitely wants to get married. It’s a “taming” process where he tames her by always reacting the opposite of what she expects.

When she gets mad at him, he accepts her anger towards him. So when she gets angry at him, he says, “I love your anger”. He goes to her and basically, he conspires a plan where he always reacts the opposite of what she expects. He was expecting Petruchio to push away such a woman, but instead Petruchio accepts the challenge to woo her.

He tells up frank who Katherina is and what type of personality she has. In order to get Bianca, he tells Petruchio to go and woo Katherina. He comes back to Italy and bumps into a friend who is in love with Bianca. So in order to get Bianca, they get Petruchio who is a lordly tradesman, very rich man. So, there’s a bit of tension because all these suitors want Bianca, in the sense, to have her available to take someone’s hand in marriage. Their father, Baptista Minola, he is quite rich and has many suitors pinning after Bianca, but he doesn’t want to give away Bianca before Katherina’s married. She’s rude, aggressive, violent basically, every single thing that is the opposite of the obedient, pious, loving daughter image that her sister, Bianca, embodies. She is aggressive, a spinster for her era because no one wants to marry her. We follow a family in Italy, the Minola family particularly the sisters Katherina and Bianca Minola, specifically Katherina.

I’m starting this channel by talking about “The Taming of the Shrew” by William Shakespeare, because there’s nothing like starting a channel then starting with a controversial play.įor those of you who don’t know, I’ll provide a brief synopsis: Hello everyone, hope you’re all doing well and staying safe.
